Aloha

Its been a great week. The Work is going wonderful. We do so much study and so much work. Its exhausting. I like trackting although its hard for the first couple houses. Once you find someone that has interest you get a little more faith and you really get in a groove. My favorite people to talk to when trackting is spanish people. Yesterday we were biking on this walking path to talk with a member, who missed church, and i talked to 4/5 spanish families and gave them pass along cards for the free Christ video. The seemed to understand me fine. I still cant spit out sentence after sentence but its getting there.

We also teach a lesson in spanish a day normally. Right now we have two spanish investigators one Jose and another Talia. Also a meeting with another on Thursday. So we will see how it goes. I need to pop the bubble and talk to everyone but slowly its comming. I guess i just have an attachment to English, its so easy to walk up to someone and speak spanish.

My companion (been out 14 months) says i understand the people better than he does. jaja. neither of us get everything but the point gets understood. The last lesson we taught was really good in unity. Twice they asked us to repeat what we said maybe twice. But they seemed to like just talking to someone that knew their language.

Time really has been flying. The hard work has been paying off. There isnt much time for trackting because we have so many investigators. Which is nice, unless they fall through, or you get two of them mixed up, long story.

Our branch had a fellowship picnic. There was a bunch of free food and stuff, a lot of fun. We invited maybe 15/20 people to go and half seemed to really like free food, but only one showed up. Its David (sab4) He has really progressed. Yesterday he went the entire day without a cigarette. The first time in over 30 years. He says buy next weekend he will be done. I hope. He is such a great guy and his testimony, although small is strong.

I've learned so much and have so many more experiences ahead of my life. Back to work, but first imma ball.

Until next time,
Its Elder Toomey!

Day 3 in Argentina.... pause NOT!

So we were suppose to leave on monday for argentina but the visas did not come/ and we aint find out until friday night. so now we are getting reassigned tomorrow (26/4/12) We have a big white board filled with guesses to which state we are all going to. i even heard some are headed to chile because supposedly you dont need a visa to be there. who knows. Since we didnt leave we still had class but our teacher thought we left or somethin so for the last two days we didnt have a teacher... jajaja.  ahhhhh. :)

Other exciting stuff here in the MTC. Clark House left to Japan. He will do well. We talked much and my entire district made friends with him. Which reminds me i have to find out how Jay is doing.
On Sunday we did the Cereal Tower Challenge. Its a huge tower of cereal in the lunch room. we chose Froot Loops. We ate over 100 bowls all together. I had like 22ish. it hurt so bad. Our mouths were all cut up because of the froot loops and they started to bleed. ja. but we finished the tower with only 6 1/2 people. it was nice. i say six and a half because one member of our district ate two plates of normal food first than a couple bowls. and my companion hates fun (ask anyone) so he didnt join in) we are quite opposite. i am over crazy and he is "guys thats not funny, we should eat dinner in ten minutes to get 30 extra minutes of study time" kind of person. But we learn alot from eachother and our hears are loosly knit together (mosiah 4:18ish)

AND Yesterday.... We got to hear from our FIFTH (5) Apostle. Elder Nelson. He did a very sweet talk. but i find it interesting how simple this gospel really is. like how jesus taught. real simple. Which goes to what Bishop Riggs use to say to me how the mission would be a "vacation" because we only have to work 14 hour days. and before i worked 90 a week sometimes and up to 19 straight. im never tired at night but it takes alot of energy to continue to study the scriptures and this language thingy. spanish is hard. i finally can talk in past future conditional and all the other conjigations so once i learn a few more words ill be a native. also practice practice practice because then we can talk faster with out having to think and translate into spanish. it will come. were working hard. stay up to date.

Love all yall

Elder Toomey

4-ish more days in Sprit Prison (MTC)

Hola Familia!!!

They threw me through the ceiling. jaja. its a square white thingy ceiling and my shoulders went through. lo fue comica. I have the best district ever. We get along real nice. and have plans to frio after our mish.

The lastest new on my life is VISA. We are suppost to leave on monday to argentina. (a 20+ hour travel day) but because we dont have visas we can either stay here for a couple weeks or get shipped out to stateside. Last night i had a dream i got shipped out to West Virginia (shoutout to J-Riddle) (did kyler messanger get his call?) but we wont find out until friday. Others that dont have their visas are headed to conneticut. I dont know. anywhere right now is good. i feel ready to go out and mess up spanish. My spaish is bueno. i feel like i can talk about anything with the vocab i have. i dont know all the words but i can find my way around. i can teach any lesson in spanish and have a few scriptures to share and a couple memorized. two or three for each of the first four lessonsish.

My companion does not life fun. We are opposite of eachother. i am a extreamist and he is dull. its a good medium.
My companions of our room are E. Whetten and E.Draper. Whetten looks like the devil, he's from NM but a pretty chill dude. acton (orem) is crazy like me.

OHHHHH!
I gave a talk in sacrament last week. it was about faith in jesus christ. I owned. and talked about the relation between the 2k strippling warriors and us. We both have to preapare early in the morning. Have very long days. Have difficult work, in a land we are unfamilliar with. We do things we have never done before. The have hard battles, they get scrapped up, but in the end God does not let a single one fall. They doubt not. Ive never talked to a girl. ive never talked to a stranger about chruch. ive never had a full on conversation in spanish. Now i have to go out and do all three with out fear. with out doubt. without limits. Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against?

Be of happiness.

Elder Toomey.

Semana ocho! ay corumba!

I only have eleven days at the mtc??? what! i just got here. time is just flying by. The teachers here are so good and you feel the sprit real good. its nice.(nafe voice) You learn more here than all the time at church because your paying attention. If yall see Brother/Sister Bowen tell them thanks because i would of been so much further behind with out them. also Brother Alder. He has a very strong spirit and was a good Mission prep coach.

We are finishing up our investigators. we have five different people throughout the week that we teach. ive got all the lessons down i belive? but i dont know because the zone president said that only three people from the last 3 years could teach every lesson by themself in spanish. i got alot of vocab and know more spaish scriptures than english. my scriptures are marked efficiantly so i can pull out a scripture about a certain topic in seconds.

im not really sure what to say so umm. yup send me jokes, lyrics or other nonsence. we cant sing hymns in our bedrooms only in class. so lyrics would be good
whats the joke "yes very very fresh"? maybe a riddle? i dont know im bored. ryan sent me two songs so that was helpful cause i could sing in the shower and such. jaja. fun times.

We met with the argentina concel today. we leave in 11 days but we will likely get reassigned to usa for two weeks or just stay in the mtc. i hope i get a "2nd" mission call for a week or two like my cousin jay who went to washington before mexico.

Le Amo,

Semana siete or such.

Que Pasa!! familia, cumpas, amigos, y changos!!

This week flew by. all of them are starting to. We have learned alot and practiced alot. i finally kinda get how to conjigate stuff in past and future and conditional all that other nonsence. I feel really confident when we are teaching and the random members that come once a week tell me im doing good. There are a couple that only speek spanish. Its so cool that i can actually comminucate with them. Tengo gozo en mi alma. "sunshine (joy) in my soul"

Did Y'all listen to conference? it was nice. alot of stuff about families which is weird because the prophet doesnt assign topics just who speaks and it all flows really well together. My favorites were Elder Packer. He said it is our duty to raise a family for good. That the most imporant calling in the church is a parent. Thats pretty cool because i know people that care to have a big name calling but they do a good job raising their family as i see it so there doing their job. That one couple that couldnt have kids but wanted to and he said that so cool because its our duty and those who dont have kids arnt following god. In heaven only he had the chance to be a father. now we get that chance to teach our own children. Later on they said the most imporant thing you can teach your kids to do is to pray. Savannah got taught that and its cool cause i always saw her say prayers alone...

Another cool talk is last year we watched a video by elder bednar. when he was a missionary he gave prez packer 20 marks (german money) for food on the night bus. the bus got stopped at the border and the police wouldnt let his wife across but he slipped the 20 in the expired passport (extended 3 to 5 years but east germany didnt take it) and the marshall took the money and somehow let them go. he later found out that normally the police take the people to prison or such. so the spirt told bednar to give 20 marks for food but really it was to save packer's wife. folllow the spirit and you'll be good.

one cool scritpute is D&c 42:14ish Eh aqui eh se dara el espiritu por la oracion de fe, y si no reciebes el espiritu, no ensenaries" which means such as ask for the spirit with a pray of faith and if you dont recieve the sprit ye shall not teach. cause we suck at spanish so in argentina its gonna be the sprit that converts people.

Speaking of argentina. we meet with the councilit (head visa boss for argentina) on monday and thursday. then usally 3 weeks later you get your visa but some people its taken 6+ weeks. so there is a possibility to get reassigned state side or such. i think it be col if we got a second mission call for a couple weeks.

No mas tiempo.
Mucho amor y paz para ustedes.

Elder Donald El-don "the gift" Toomey Jr

One month down!

Hola Familia Oltra Vez!

Its been a month now since i have been at the MTC! Time flies, and all the days are mixed together. Espanol is coming along good. it seems like ive learned so much but there is so much that i dont know. The conjagations are really hard, but it seems convienant in the end. its pretty much they dont ever use "you, he, she, they, we, i" and that kinda stuff. im starting to get the first three of 14 but others have 7 down. its all cool. my vocab outhustles theirs i just say stuff wrong like when i talk about jose smith i say he talk with god and god told him none of the churches were true. so Joseph traslating the book of mormon. you get the jist of it and soon enough i will be able to say it right.

The average missionary at the MTC gets to hear .9 of an apostale. We heard Elder Holland the first week and on tuesday we heard Elder Dallin H Oaks. He has a cool background as to how he became an apostale. He's been a member of the 12 since '84. He talked about how much we need the spirit. There is a verse in D&C 85:17ish that says if ye have not the spirit, DONT teach. Thats how important it is to pray and have a good friendship with all around us.

There is really not much to write about so sorry. Every week we do a service assignment and the people tell us about the outside world. I heard byu mad the biggest comeback in ncaa history then lost to marquette. that a plus. And the Jazz finally got it together beating okc and la in la. 8th now in the w.

Kylie sent pictures of the baby and he is sweet. El eres un capo de molleta. it will be cool to see him in two year as he tries to learn a language as i. (Stud Muffin)

Hmmm. so in gym yesterday i hit 3 game winning shots and 4 3's in a row the last game. all over the most dominate player in our zone. mamba-ish.

Tambien! ive been reading the story of ammon and king lamoni in my libro de mormon. its alma capitulo 17-21ish. its cool beans. i can read 8 or nine versus in a row its nice. although most of the time i read a verse and have no idea whats going on. but the story is cool he teaches king lamoni like how preach my gospel manuel teaches. And with his fe so many people are baptized. also another cool jiffy in that passage is that the queen has a vision after she falls down in belief about jesus and says he will be born of a woman and will be the redeemer of us. This story is 100 years before Jesucristo was born.

anyways peace be unto you and may you have "Gozo en su Alma Hoy!"

Amor,
Elder Toomey!
