This week.

Word of the week. Sup
Sentence. "You gotta sup it up"
Definition. After eating a bowl of taco salad; you throw in a handful of cheese to "Sup" up the remaining crumbs and juice

Today was a nice week. Time is still flying by. especially as i study. I just started the book of mormon again, but this time i am doing it with the student manual. (http://store.lds.org/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product3_715839595_10557_22008_-1__195629) its a real good help and you get a lot of insite and stuff. i would recommend it.

This letter will be random points and interesting things that i did during the week.

I made Elder Wollums a ute wallet. its pretty cool. i could pic later.
I was on an exchange with wollymamoth and we went trackting for like 5 hours. not to many good investigators right now.
Trackting is fun. sometimes people say "i no speak english" and we get to bust out our spanish and suprise them. We have been able to do a couple more lessons in spanish this week. i feel way comfortable with spanish. Reading and speaking and most understanding. While on our 5 hours i had to teach a spanish lesson alone because it was an exchange and he is an english missionary. good learning experience.

We visited the ramirez family and i got to give their aunt a blessing in spanish. I think it went pretty good except i blessed her with comfortable (comodo) not comfort (consuelo) oh well, god knows what i ment.

I also got to give a blessing to Rebecca Ann Hamilton we have been visiting her for months. (only really taught twice) just occasional hello's. Now the sisters are teaching her because she is single, So anyhow i got to give here a blessing....
When Elder Oaks was here he said about revelation, be prepared to say something you have never thought of before,
so when i gave the blessing i just kept my mind clear and would take my time and stuff popped in my mind. it was kinda like a patriartical blessing, i told her something about her during the pre-existence and how she can be a light to the people here, and more good stuff. It was a grand experience.

I have been cursed. Twice i have purchased peanut better on my mission and both times a member gives us a jar with in 18 hours. AHHHH. its alright. extra peanut butter isnt bad.

Also another story. I got tested. well i passed. This family is moving so after sacrament they put out a huge box of books. you got to rush over to get anything good. Some random lady came in to sacrament, (obviously not a member) and i had to (sadly) contemplate if i could talk to her or get the book. I was looking for the Miracle of forgiveness. Which is like 20$ on ebay so thats a worthy cause, not really. but after fighting it out in my mind i decited that i was going to go talk to her after sacrament, and then she left. So i guess i got a good enough faze in the work.

Last a story.

Man is living in idaho.
God comes to him and says to push this bolder on top of a hill.
He say he will do so.
Day 1 pushed, it doest move.
day 2 same thing, he gets angry its not moving.
3,4,5, 6 nothing. He keeps pushing but he cant get it to move, its a heavy bolder.
He finally yells. God i give up. I cant move this bolder.
God says look what you have become. Look how strong you are.
But i couldnt move the bolder.
I only asked you to push it.

Count your blessing.
Elder Toomey.

Elder Busch

Good Day to all.

I am still resinding in morristown. this last week was pretty good. Lots of lessons this week. Not sure if thats is a better or worse thing. Elder Busch and I are doing a nice lil new concept. When tracking at a door we dont try to share a lesson right away. We offer to have a prayer with them to leave the saviors' peace and blessing & leave the spirit in their home. Its helps strain out the wheat. Then we go back within the next two days and they remember the spirit they felt during the pray and want more. People are a lot more receptive after they have earned your trust (and know your now jehova witness) No one like them here...

But then again, no one like mormon missionaries. We have one guy were teaching. The first time we introduced ourselves as missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS. He was pretty chill with us. we had a prayer and got to talk a little. The next visit he mentioned how he had just moved from florida and there are a ton of mormon missionaries. He said he will talk to anyone but them. jaja (we havent said anything yet). That was kinda funny, especially because we were just talking about how that happens a lot during lunch.

Another cool story is of aman whom we had a prayer with two days prior, we passed by his house to give greeting and check in. He was a little busy buying a gun from someone off craigslist. The reason. His best from from school, a man he had served with on three tours, had been robbed and murdered, he showed us the newspaper article, over three hundred dollars. Thats pretty sucky. (yes thats not a word) Were gonna go back to his house sometime this next week. So we'll se whats happening.

As far as Elder Busch. He is from Sacramento California. So he had a different life back in the day. He is likely the most normal companion i have had yet. His teaching method is unique but we seem to do good together. We have seen so much success in the area now.

I may have mentioned Charles (Melvin) Scruggs. He is a cool lil fellow. He is pressing along good and has read 1 Nephi 1-7. His moms dying wish was that he gets baptised, but he is having a little troubles with his girlfriend.

Lots of new investigators this week so i should have a fun filled letter. and more pictures next week. stay tuned.

Much love to all

Elder Toomey.
"the toominator"

My name has become a verb. When we play basketball and i beat people they say "you got toominated"

Notes from when Elder Dallin H. Oaks came to visit us

Teach by the spirit or "ye shall not teach"
Spirit can come in the form of "pure intelligence" as we qualify for it
In a Blessing you may have a "restraining revelation" about things NOT to say
"The Lord usually doesn't give revelation when we are sitting in the shade waiting to find out where to go." Be diligent and be worthy to receive it.
"Be prepared to say something you hadn't previously thought of."
We each have different spiritual gifts / we need to magnify those we have been blessed with.
Prophets – Testify of Christ. Both men and women may be prophets as we teach and testify of Christ.
Scriptures are a personal Urim and Thumimm / Prayer before study helps our understanding & revelation received.
We are more likely to get revelation when we are humble.
Revelation comes when we are "in harmony" with the word of the Lord.
To help members have "real intent" we need to introduce them to the principle of commitment (action) and follow-up faithfully.
We need to be "every missionary a member" and always partake of the sacrament worthily after repenting of our transgressions.
