random twitter info found on lds.org

breaking news from lds.org 7% of church members use twitter.

"Twitter currently has approximately 140 million active users who
tweet about 340 million times per day. During 2010, an average of
300,000 users joined Twitter each day. To accommodate this growth,
Twitter recently moved its technical operations infrastructure to a
new data center in the Salt Lake City area. According to a recent
survey by the Church's Research Information Division, 7 percent of
Church members use Twitter."

The Catholic Church Adventure

To this choir... :)

All things are good here in Georgia.
I think that there are more Title Loan Places than Churches here.
Also its wicked humid here. I would compare to the feeling immediately
after spraying mosquito spray.
Elder Kamoe is from Hawaii. He says that Hawaiian Haystacks are NOT
from Hawaii. First time he had them was last transfer in NC.
a Tumi (pronounced Toomey) is a spanish sacrificial knife.
Funny story. at night i said "quien se toca" which means "whose turn
is it (to pray)" but it can be mistranslated very easily to mean "who
touches themselves" :)
There are 9 stakes in AF. 9 in PG.... and 11 in the entire state of TN.
Happy Pioneer Day (on wednesday!)

The most exciting thing we did this week was going to St. Joseph's
Catholic Church.
Los Caballeros de Colon
Everyone was very friendly to us and *20+% of the people greeted us.
We were the only white people. (it was a spanish mass) I was the only
person over 5'9"
As it begain there was a band. (2 guitars, and a pianist, 3 singers)
Everyone (we did also) stood up and would do things such as;
-Clap your hands
-Greet your neigbor and say "Jesus Lives"
-Smile at your neighbor
-Turn around twice
-Sit down and stand up
Then they would do a shout
Give me a -J-, Give me a -E-... What does that spell? "JESUS!!!" (also
Maria) (mary)
Then they did a train (congo line) where you hold the persons
hips/sholders and walk around.
We did not do this. stayed in our seat and clapped our hands to the band.
they had to;
-Turn around half way
-Tickle their nighbor
-"jump around like a little horse"
and some other stuff.
We didnt sit down for more than 10 seconds for the first 45 minutes...
Then some lady gave a 10 minute thought about a scripture. (dont remember which)
Then some priest asked who was here for first time... We were the only
two standing.
We came up front and introduced ourselves. then they had a line of
30ish people come up and greet us by name.
Lastly a catholic priest (who is a servent of god, everyone else is a
servent of a servent of god) gave a talk about the difference between
idolds and art/symbols. it turns out they dont worship idols. They
just have a bunch of art to remind them to be good christians. The
early chrisians survived on symbols, no scriptures for a long time. It
was a pretty good talk. informative. Felt the spirit. Emphasized on
how we should only worship god. (they pray to mary also but dont
"worship" her) Also joked about how he went to another church and
their band had a 75k budget so sorry for the lil member band they had.
Remember all this was in spanish so i was pretty happy. there was only
3 words that i had to write down because i didnt understand.

mormon church was also great. better. a convert of 2 months gave a
talk (16yo) and it was better than my farwell talk. Strong spirit on
hers (about obidience) and sister elizabeth's about temples.

Thats all i got.
Love and amor.

soy un baloncestista.

jaja.
Super good week.
My trainee got his visa so he is going to argentina. :) / :(
My spanish is still improving indefinately. thats pretty cool. I can
understand pretty much everything. (ex: we went out on splits, (a
missionary and a elder) and as we did the hometeaching lesson and
stuff i understood. even the argument they were having and random
scripture quoting) yup. very blessed. The spanish here is very
spanglish. Elder Bennett will have to learn a few works because
"park-ear" is not a work. nor is "car-o" ni "truck-a" jaja.

4th of july wasnt terrible. I remember Matt (at jcw's) said that it
was the worst day of his mission. luckly i only have one on my entire
mission. yup. It was raining terribly and so we stayed inside that
night and got to watch documentaries a couple of the prophet. no vi
ningun cuete. no fireworks.

While i was in morristown i was working with two spanish people.
Yolanda and Pedro. Yolanda got baptized 3 weeks after i left. (2
months ago) and then pedro got baptised last saturday. Very good eh?
We found Pedro knocking doors so thats cool. pretty much.

Thats all for this week. Love and peace.
Que les vaya bien.

Happy Canada Day!!!!

nope. its not a big deal down here. but yup.

unorganized thought that wont mean much to you...

-My spanish is growing a lot here in Dalton, two reasons. everyone
speaks spanish. and Elder Chavida is a native. (from utah) so he
answers my questions. The dictionary has lots of false doctorine in
it. yup. "that doesnt work" he tells me a lot!
-I have learned why most spanish people dont like mexicans. haha
theyre real cool to me but the spanish isnt very good. they do a lot
of spanglish down here. "Carpeta" means carpet, "yarda" is yard and so
on...
-Also they dont conjugate right. They use present tence for
everything. "lo compramos" can me "we bought it." "we are buying it"
and "we are going to buy it." real nice. yup.
-We get a lot of excuses from people why they dont want to talk to us.
most of the time (in tennessee not here) its "ive been saved" which
means they have said one prayer so they think that theyre going to
heaven guaranteed. even if they kill someone. but this week some dude
said "im in the Jehova Witness Protection Program" haha. didnt have
any interest but made for a good laugh.
-I remember in Mission prep sometimes they would have us teach it to
the teacher, to see what we understood. so this week i taught a bunch
of kids about the restoration and then had them teach it to me. it
worked out good and they understood. yup. thanks
-There are lots of beavers here in dalton. Also Lightning bugs and stuff.
-Sometimes we are persistant when we try to teach someone. Elder
Bennett had a strong feeling about this one house. We had knocked it
5+ times in the last two weeks and no answer. but we did it again
and.... yup got to teach them and they were really interested.
-I accidently said "plenitud of the gospel in a prayer" my companions
didnt notice... haha (plenitud = fulness)
-Did you know Alex Cooper's dad's name is Ether Moroni. (his grampa
was an apostle, in some breakoff sect)
